MDV® TECHNOLOGY
"Maximum Darkness Visibility®"

This is a special 8-layer application of ultra bright glowing photo-luminescent material, producing an incredibly bright luminescent light afterglow charge upon exposure to UV light.
MDV® hands and dials are readable throughout the night.
All prototypes are done by hand, and the factory replicates the curves, height, and finish (In factory - the lume is applied with a stylograph by machine).
A layer of titanium dioxide white is laid down by rotory print, then 6 layers of lume compound followed by a layer of clear gloss coat. Each step of this unique method must be done very carefully and elegantly so the final effect could be perfect. (a total of 8 layers applied)
MDV® technology is a registered trademark from Lüm-Tec and is the best method according to current technology possibilities and Lüm-Tec is still improving it!
All watches are finally assembled, tested, packaged and shipped out from Mentor, Ohio - the Home of Lüm-Tec.
Lüm-Tec's new MDV® luminous pigment
In the quest for the BRIGHTEST lume and LONGEST lume time as requested by many collectors, Lüm-Tec has a new custom made lume pigment made for them by RC Tritec®, the industry’s standard for luminous products on major watch brands from Switzerland, to be used in all models from 2009 on..
MDV® technology remains unchanged!
This is for the brightest lume, and glows throughout the night! The grain size is 15-20μm, so it applies silky smooth like Tritec’s standard C3. It is equal in color (slightly more white when dried), grain size, brightness, and application ease to standard C3, and it has a longer afterglow effect - glows brighter than standard C3.
