What do I do if my quartz watches need battery replacement? All Lüm-Tec quartz watches offer a lifetime battery replacement for free. If you need to replace the battery of your watch, you may send your watch to us as mentioned above. Why do some watches need servicing? I thought mechanical and automatic watches need not servicing?Though mechanical/automatic watches can last for a lifetime, just like cars, there is frequent friction between gears and other contact points. Lubricants and oil can become viscous and cause wheels and gears to 'stick' with each other. This results in 'slow' time. To ensure your watches can last forever, it is recommended that you send them for regular service once every three to five years. Note that this service requires a highly skilled qualified watchmaker only. Please do not attempt to service it yourself. If your watch needs to be serviced after 3 years for normal oiling and cleaning, please send your watches, safely wrapped up, together with the valid warranty back to us as mentioned above. How much does the repair service costs?Depending on the complexity and the damage of the watch, the repair service starts from S$120 onwards and is carried out by certified watchmakers of Lüm-tec, which covers 1 year of works carried out but it does not cover users’ mishandling. ABOUT LÜM-TEC AND ITS WATCHES Who owns Lüm-Tec?Chris Wiegand of course! also known as "Ray Knight" in many watch forums. He has been doing custom reluming for many Panerai homages and other watches for watch collectors for a few years before starting out on the brand Lüm-Tec. Where are Lüm-Tec watches made anyway?Lüm-Tec watches are assembled and tested in Ohio, USA (home of Wiegand's watch workshop). Only highest quality parts, sourced from all over the world, goes into a Lum Tec watch. How are the lume on Lüm-Tec watches charged? We are in the process of making a video of this. But in short, two sources to get it charged up well. 1. Natural Sunlight: This is by far the best source of charging the luminosity. Just 2-30 minutes of good sunlight will give your Lüm-Tec watch a good overnight readibililty overnight. (Note that: green/yellow glow will appear brighter than orange or blue glow due to the nature of the color) 2. UV Blacklight: This is usually the light used to scan for counterfeit currency notes. It immediately charges up the lume but the decay life of the lume is also much shorter. 3. Normal LED light: This is also possible to charge it up; though it might take a longer time and may not exhibit the full glow effect. What are the typical case and lug sizes?Case sizes start at 38mm, 43mm, 44mm, 45mm and 50mm. What are the standard features in all watches? You will be promised these standard features in all Lüm-Tec watches :
Will other straps fit Lüm-Tec watches?Certainly! There have been many Lüm-Tec collectors fitting other straps and they look absolutely stunning! Where does most of the money goes to when buying Lüm-Tec watches? Most of what you paid for goes into the manufacturing of the watch itself:- that is, the case material, case finishing, dial making, movements, straps and bracelets, and of course the labor hours and expertise in assembling the watch.

MOVEMENT What are the movements used in Lüm-Tec watches?Different models works on different movements. There are the Japan Miyota quartz, Japan Seiko automatic, Swiss ETA quartz, Swiss ETA manual, Swiss ETA automatic, Swiss Soprod and Russian movements. What is the difference between all the movements?A quartz watch is one where it is powered by a battery. Such watches usually need replacement every 3 years when the battery cell dies. A manual watch is one where it needs full winding through the crown of the watch. Usually a full wound Swiss manual watch can last for 36-40 hours; afterwhich, it would need to be wound up again. An automatic watch is one where it needs no winding as long as the watch has been worn for the last day or so. It relies on the wrist movement of the wearer to maintain its energy. Once the watch is not worn for about 3 days, it will stop moving. To start the time again, just give the watch a few winds on the crown and off you go!
